Stabbed Green By Akintade Emmanuel
Yes!Our roof leaksAs we live through the creeks
On the crums we feed
Yet,our hope we breed
Our hope we nurse
Safeguarding from all curse
Our dreams stabbed
The rubbles grabbed
Our placards were for expression
As a hiding from depression
There at the crossroad we sang
Armed with smiles,handshake,hugs and flags
Born of the armoury of our lofty wishes
The evening sun of the crossroad disappeared
Soley disclosing the souls of our green leaves
To the recklessly brandished groundnuts of Khaki
Piercing through her flags transforming her snow to blood
Emptying dreams,raping and wrecking tomorrow
Breath excused them hastily leaving their fist clenged
Till your end you pledged
Your heart bled to reveal your passion
Strong desires of lads and lasses
Having your breath as a means of exchange
Your soul as the atonement
Resting your head upon the lap of the earth
With your name inscribed on the rocks of our hearts
Time, the aged long healer surely will heal your wounds.

This is a beautiful one reminding us of our fallen heroes, we will not back down,we won't get tired,we will make u proud ,Your death will not be in vain,They cannot kill us all...We will make Nigeria great again in 2023

Delete...Will heal your lands and resound the anthems of your deeds to generations born and unborn. Let your split blood continue the struggles till your death is just.
ReplyDeleteMore flow of words are not enough to commend the efforts of our Oct. Heroes, but this struggle and sacrifice must be continually sung.
A commendable poem, Mr.Akintade.
